B Lab EU: Hi! Tell us briefly who you are and what your company does.
HOLALUZ: I’m Oriol, 41 years old, engineer and with an executive MBA from IESE. I’m passionate about human relationships, entrepreneurship, technology and sports. In 2010 I created Holaluz jointly with Carlota Pi and Ferran Nogué. At Holaluz we connect people to green energy with the aim of making the world a better and more sustainable place.
B Lab EU: Why did you decide to become a B Corp?
HOLALUZ: At Holaluz we believe that running a company is a big responsibility and can be a useful tool to make good things and to work for a better world. Something easy to say, harder to demonstrate… For us being a B Corp accomplishes two objectives. First, it's an examination of ourselves to be conscious of our own practices; there’s always room for improvement! Second, to demonstrate with some independent opinion, that what we say is actually what we do, at least in terms of working for a better world.
B Lab EU: What does being a B Corp mean to you?
HOLALUZ: Something we are proud of. It means this independent opinion that recognises what we do in working for a better world. An objective, neutral and non partial opinion about how we develop in our business ecosystem, meaning how we collaborate with our customers, our team, our providers, etc.
B Lab EU: Have you seen business benefits of being a B Corp?
HOLALUZ: Absolutely! Being part of this community is such a privilege! Talking about business benefits, we gain credibility in front of our ecosystem. Also, the day to day in any company is really intense. So we tend to relax on some topics. By being a B Corp we feel even more responsible to work for a better world. And to retain our recognition because once you got it, you need to demonstrate that you deserve keeping it!
B Lab EU: What are you looking forward to most about the 2019 Summit?
HOLALUZ: Mainly inspiration! It’s impressive seeing so many companies and executives sharing the same vision! Knowing each one's experience, case, etc. gives us such a good energy and lots of enthusiasm to keep on improving! We know we need lots of companies to be part of the movement, in order to have the biggest possible impact. So I expect a lot from the Summit!

We know we live in a continuously changing environment and even the goal of being a force for good is clear, there are always new options arising. We mainly work a lot with our team, as in the end they are the true force of what we can achieve. Learning from others, trying, failing, repeating,...
Also, we need as many companies as possible to join the movement and, for sure, we want to be an example to them. So we’ll try to help the B Corp movement as much as we can, to get as far as possible.
